Farewll 2008!!!!

Photobucket

As 2008 comes to a close I know many of us are having mixed emotions about the year we're leaving behind and the new beginnings 2009 brings to us. Some are relieved, some are regretful, some are excited and some just expect more of what they've been dealing with. Regardless of what's on your mind, know that a new day is coming. Happy New Year all. I'm off to go celebrate!!!

Going Postal

Photobucket

A well-respected documentarian, photographer Martha Cooper has captured many a subculture in a time when few would actively explore the landscapes which included both graffiti and hip-hop. In her most recent project which began six years ago, her fascination with the use of postal/courier stickers as a form of communication has led to her latest publication, “Going Postal”. The book includes works predominately seen in New York and Philadelphia but also features other samples from Baltimore, San Francisco, Berlin, Tokyo and Amsterdam. The book published by Mark Batty will be available through their site with a retail price of $9.95 USD.

Fresh Lo Footwears

Photobucket

These boots haven't been available to the masses for sometime. The Polo Ralph Lauren “Ranger” boots make a mighty return at the very end of 2008...just in the nick of time. Usually referred to as the “cookie boots”, the model was made popular for its circle leather patch resembling a cookie shape as well as being rumored as a staple item amongst Official Lo Lifes and cocaine dealers. For the new millennium, the classic silhouette receives a rich tan nu buck upper complimented by loafer-detailing and a buckled strap across the laces, giving the rugged platform an edgy yet sophisticated look. The Ranger’s are now available at select Polo Ralph Lauren retailers.

Boss Hog Egg Nog

This is almost as disturbing as the Byrd Gang christmas video.

She's a DIVA alright

This is rather reminiscent of the "put a ring in her video". I wish these artists would be a bit more creative with their videos. Beyonce is still one bad bitch tho.

Watermelon anyone?

Photobucket

A dope release Vans has slated for their 2009 spring/summer collection will be their watermelon themed pack; featuring the Chukka, Authentic and Slip-On models. This pack features green vulcanized sole (playing the role of the rind) while the canvas upper features a watermelon print complete with seeds. This release should be dropping sometime in March. My only question is...when is the Chicken and Beer pack dropping????

Air Jordan CDP 11/12 an early holiday gift!!!

Aiight ya'll, lemme tell you about this mornings escapade and the final Jordan Brand CDP.

I get up LATE this morning thinking I'mma go reserve my CDP cuz it's supposed to drop next Saturday (little did I know how wrong I was). I make my way to the mall (it's like 11:45 AM) and head straight to Finish Line cuz I wanna reserve my pair and be able to avoid the lines and all that when the kicks drop. I enter the store, go to the counter and the convo plays out like this...

Mas: Are you getting the CDP that drops next week?
Girl: Which ones are you talking about?
Mas: The 11/12.
Girl: Oh, those came out today. People keep coming in here asking if we got them and I keep telling them that they're sold out everywhere in the mall.
Mas: Oh...aiight. Thanks anyways.

Yo, I wanted to cry so badly. This was the only CDP I really wanted all year long. I passed on a lot of kicks this year waiting for this CDP. So, leaving Finish line I stroll around the mall for a hot second in a daze. At first I'm lost and confused by how I mixed up the release date. Then I start getting tight. On the one hand I can't really be tight cuz I slept on this and when you sleep you lose and on the other hand I'm mad as hell cuz I got the dates mixed up. So I make my way to the other sneaker spot in the mall. I'm in there eyeing the wall cuz I desperately need to make up for missing out. Low and behold I see the CDP still being displayed on the wall. So the second convo plays out like this...

Mas: Pardon me, are you sold out of the Jordans?
Girl: Which ones?
Mas: The CDP? The 11/12's that dropped this morning.
The girl shakes her head side to side signifying that the store is not sold out.
Mas: Word!!! Do you have a size 13 left?
Girl pauses to think about it.
Girl: I think we do. Lemme check for you.

The girl goes to the back and is gone for a good 3 minutes. I'm thinking that shorty prolly got it wrong and at best all they have left is a 12. Lo and behold tho, she emerges from the stockroom with that big red and black box.

Girl: You wanna try them on?
Mas: Naw, I just want to look at them.
Shorty takes the set out of the box and shows them to the kid.
Mas: Yeah, I'll be taking those please.

When I made it back to the rest I had to simulate the pepsi challenge with my new purchase.
I did a comparison between the CDP 11's and my 2001 retro 11's.
Sad to say it but there were a number of differences between the two.
Normally I don't really stress small differences...but the shape was a little off, the CDP 11's seem to run slightly smaller and to top it off, these idiots at JB reversed the fucking Jumpman on the back of the shoe!!!
WTF is up with that???!!!!
By doing that they verified all the gripes and complaints that heads toss out on Niketalk every other post. Oh Well, I was still pleased with the 12's and I'm prolly gonna sport the CDP's anyways. EHHH, whatcha gonna do???!!!

Lakai or Die!!!!

The Lakai Video "Fully Flared" is prolly the best skate video to come out since 2003 (Tha's when Yeah Right came out).
Epicly Later'd is DOPE!!!!

P-Rod in the House

Paul Rodriguez AKA P-Rod is my favorite skater right now. The kid has super smooth style and can kill in contests and on the streets. When it comes to the skate industry most pros are vets at the age of 19 or 20 and are trading in their boards around 21 or 22. At 23 P-Rod is making major moves and still killing it on a skateboard. A while back he opened up a boutique called Primitive. Check the store opening in the second video.

Here are some new UNDFTD New Era 59Fifty “Fitted” Caps. The hats feature the UNDFTD logo on the front, and another UNDFTD logo stitched on the side. The hats are monochrome and come in red, black, purple, navy blue, and green. These are available at all UNDFTD chapter and e-stores.

Make Em Say UNNGHHH!!!

Photobucket

What ever happened to the gold tank? At the end of the 90's and beginning of the new millennium Master P and his No Limit Soldiers were the hottest thing outta the south and had the rap game in a strangle-hold. Remember that first season of MTV cribs when P showcased his home and the gold water faucets he had in all his bathrooms? My man was definitely GETTING ARAB MONEY!!!

No Limit was doing it. Snoop Dogg even briefly signed to No Limit records cuz Master P bought out his contract with Death Row Records. No Limit was selling albums hand over fist and then they all but vanished from the rap world. I think this was mostly due to the introduction of the Ca$h Money Millionaires who came thru with the Hot Boys and a very very young Lil Wayne. Ca$h Money more or less erased all memory of the No Limit fam and that big gold tank. Big Ups to It's the Real.

This one's for the gold tank!!!

She Hate Me

Photobucket

So, the other night I'm in the crib watching HEROES and I bear witness to a scene featuring the gorgeous Dania Ramirez. At this point I start thinking about how bad this girl is and how much I loved her in Spike Lee's film She Hate Me. After being lost in thought for several minutes I snap back into reality and begin to look for my copy of She Hate Me. Less than 3 minutes into my search I realize that my DVD is no longer in my position because it was indirectly loaned out to this chick I know (this is the reason I no longer loan out DVD's).

Here's the back story...
About 2 years ago I was at the 9-5 telling one of my homies about She Hate Me and how I just loved the movie. Consequently, my co-worker asks if he could borrow the movie and see what all the frenzy is about. I loan dude the movie cuz we're mad cool and I see him every day so I should have no problem getting my DVD back. About a month goes by and I had more or less forgotten that I loaned homie the DVD until, I'm home entertaining guests and one of the girls at the house asks me about She Hate Me. Upon being questioned about the film I could not help but think that I had to see the movie again ASAP at the least to get glimpses of Dania Ramirez and Kerry Washington.

The next day at work I ask my friend if he can bring in the movie so I can get it back and he agrees to bring it in the following day. The next day I go to my man's desk so I can get my DVD only to find out that he lent it out to another co-worker of ours. Now in my mind I'm like "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!" but remained the G that I am and kept my composure. I waited until the next day to check my other co-worker and inquire as to if he enjoyed the film. Needless to say he loved it and agreed that he would bring it back to the office the following day so I could get it back (here comes the kicker).

So, the next day I'm over by my co-workers desk and I'm asking him for the DVD. In turn, he tells me that he gave it to a fourth co-worker of ours to return to me since her desk is next to mine. Now, the girl in possession of my DVD is an intern and only comes to the office twice a week. Now, I'm starting to get upset cuz this is the second time the DVD has traded hands without me receiving prior notification. So, I take a depth breath and once again maintain my composure because there is still a chance that I would be able to go home that evening with my DVD in hand. As I try to make my way back to my desk everybody in the office stops me to have a conversation about stuff I have no desire or interest to discuss. So naturally, by the time I get back to my desk shorty has rolled out for the day and my copy of She Hate Me is no where in sight. Once again I am at a loss because I have no clue as to when this chick will be back in the office or whether or not she left my DVD at work or took it home.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The following week I run into our young intern at the office and ask her if she happened to have my movie. She replies that upon reading the film synopsis on the back of the DVD she became curious and felt compelled to take the movie home and watch it. I in turn ask her if she liked it. She then responded by saying that she had yet to watch it because she was busy doing school work and didn't have the time to sit down and watch the movie. Now shorty is nice looking young lady, so I decided to give her a pass on getting cursed out. I simply tell her "No prob, just bring in the movie after you watch it and tell me what you think." So, weeks go by and I'm steady asking shorty about the movie every time I see her. I know this may seem type annoying but I could give a fuck cuz I want my movie back in the worst way. The sad thing is every time I ask her about the movie she's steady telling me that she hasn't had time to watch it because she's sooooooo busy with school. What The Hell is going on here????

So weeks turn into months and months turn into a year. I'm asking less frequently but shorty stays giving me the same tired response that she hasn't watched the movie cuz school is monopolizing her time. So the year goes by and now we're back to the present and I'm watching sexy ass Dania Ramirez on NBC and I'm back to thinking about She Hate Me. The next day I'm at work hoping shorty will come in so I can once again ask her where the fuck is my movie (at this point it's prolly been 5 months since I last asked). Unfortunately, she doesn't make it into the office all week long (one of the other interns informed me that it's finals week and she prolly won't be in the office cuz she's a fake ass over achiever).

So, after all of this unnecessary verbiage the moral of this story is go buy She Hate Me, watch it, and don't loan it out to any of your friends or associates cuz you will never see it again. Oh yeah, Anthony Mackie is a lucky dude.
