Ato Matsumoto Sneakers

These sneaks are kinda ill. Ato Matsumoto has been on the low for a minute, but managed to quietly release some new and colorful versions of his Velcro Cowhide sneakers. The multi-colored version in the pictures combines both leather and patent leather. You can grab a pair from Revolution.

Inauguration Day 2009

This day was so special on so many levels. I'm so glad I decided to make the trip to DC for this event. Aside from the fact that it was freezing cold outside and their were a bizillion people out there, the event went down without a hitch or any black on black violence. It was an incredible feeling to witnness the nation's first black president be sworn in and take control of the best country on the face of the planet. The only thing I would have chnged about the occasion was the fact that it takes place in the middle of winter...SMH. Anyways, very, very, very long day but well worth the experience.

Check some of the day's flix below.

Fat Albert in the Hood

This shit is soooooooo wrong, but it's mad funny.

Booty Shake

The broad in the blue spandex is what grabbed my attention for this video teaser. The song sounds a hell of a lot like DC "Go-Go" music but apparently this kid Blue is from BK. Regardless, MA$ loves the pretty ladies with the fat booties. I will be on the lookout for the actual video. What's really good with the girl in the black dress with the fake ass tho?

Man-Woman-Boogie

New from Q-Tip and Amanda Diva.
This joint is tough.

Sneakers to the Ceiling

As you all know I am a sneaker fiend.
This is New from Major League.

Circulate

Amidst the empty bottles of 5-hour Energy and my favorite brands of alcohol I found a little bit of time to power up the laptop and hit you with a post or two. Being that this is the weekend for "CHANGE" I thought I would hit you off with a little video where my man Jeezy is looking very presidential-esque.

Oh yeah, Jeezy is sponsored by Belvedere Vodka now.

Barack Obama X Spiderman

This is sooooooooooooooooooo CRAZE!!!!

Photobucket

With the Obama fever soon to hit a pinnacle next week, the president to-be and his childhood love of Marvel Comics resulted in the release of a special edition of The Amazing Spider-Man for issue #583. The comics storyline features attempts by the Chameleon to ruin Obama’s inauguration day only for Spider-Man to come in and save the day (no surprises there right?). The comic book was officially released on Wednesday, January 14th and largely sold-out however a massive amount have made their way to eBay.

Biggie Smalls Baby!!! Baby!!!

Photobucket

Tonite the film Notorious officially hits theaters across the country. I have been waiting for this one to drop for sometime. I'm sure true Hip-Hop enthusiasts will come out to show support for this one. In my opinion B.I.G. was the best rapper to ever grab a microphone. Real talk, he wasn't even a rapper. Biggie was an Emcee. The best emcee to grace the mic. Hopefully the cast and crew did my man justice and produced a great film that represented my man B.I.G. properly.

I stole this clip from Miss Info's blog.
It's from Puff's video blog.

Go see Notorious aiight!!!

Mishka Obama Tee

Remember when the Simpsons first dropped in the early 90's? If you are from the hood (like me), you could spot countles street vendors selling bootleg tees featuring a "black" version of The Simpsons. One of the more popular tees was one featuring a "black" Bart Simpson. Well, to commemorate the inauguration of President Elect Barack Obama, New York based street wear label Mishka is releasing a commemorative tee featuring Barack posted up with one of the homies and "Black" Bart.

Influenced by Young Jeezy’s new single “Black President” and fueled by their resentment for the run-of-the-mill Obama shirts sold everywhere, Mishka’s Bootleg Black Bart tee embodies exactly what Mishka fans expect of the brand and expect of a Mishka/Obama shirt.

Shirts will be on sale exclusively on the Mishka site today.

Adidas ZX Retroes

Photobucket

Adding a bit of retro flare to their new releases, adidas looks toward their classic ZX Series for two new colorways in the ZX Racer and ZX 700 models. Originally introduced in 1988, the running shoes brought new flavor the market with flamboyant colors alongside technologies such as Soft Cell and the TORSION system. Steering towards a more conservative crowd, the latest drops feature a ZX 700 with black/grey uppers and pink accenting while the ZX Racer’s showcase a lightweight blue/white nylon and mesh combo.

Here's a new video teaser from world reknowed artist Todd James AKA Reas. He has two new gallery shows jumping off in Australia. The firt is in Sidney at Monster Children and the other in Melborne at Don’t Come Gallery. The shows consist of paintings, a new animated piece, and four new silk screen prints in edition of 50 each total. If you happen to be in the land down under check 'em out!!!

Weekly Drop

Before I switched jobs I used to move through the day by listening to a podcast called The Weekly Drop. Originally Weekly Drop was hosted by the duo of Jeff Carvalho and Rob Heppler and focused on all things sneaker related. Rob and Jeff "offered" their opinions on the latest sneaker drops and most iconic sneakers of the past two decades, as well as today. All this was done in an "off the cuff" format that allowed them to have complete creative expression and pull no punches.

Photobucket

As the show further developed, the duo was joined by a third host, (Frank the Butcher) and broadened its subject matter to include the "street wear" industry, skate board culture, Hip-Hop culture, fixed gear bike enthusiasts, and boutique shopping. The show begin to feature prominent designers and musical artists as guests such as Lupe Fiasco, Bobby Hundreds, Keith Hufnagal, Bun B and Crooks and Castles.

The show was getting better with each episode and then it got picked up by Sirius Satellite radio. Since then, Rob Heppler has gotten a nice cushy job at Wieden and Kennedy, Frank The Butcher has been occasionaly moonlighting as a staff writer for Vapors Magazine and Jeff Carvalho is blogging it up on the HighSnobiety website.

If anyone out there knows whats good with Weekly Drop podcasts, hit me up.

Black History in the Making

Photobucket

This time next week President elect Barack Obama will be sworn in as the nation's first Black President. This epic ceremony is taking place the day after the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday, which will signify one of the many achievements Dr. King sacrificed his life to bring to fruition.

Photobucket

With that the said the number of special events and parties taking place this weekend in Washington DC are going to be MONUMENTAL!!!!! If you have your doe stacked up like yours truly...or have some homies living in the area...you should definitely take part in the history making.

Kid Cudi

I stole this one off of our "Brother Blog" Water-n-Oxygen.
Kid Cudi is straight outta cleveland and on the rise.

Flashback Friday

Guess its that time again. I really wanted to go classic 80's this week but it's hard as hell to find code for the videos. You'll just have to settle with this for now.

Mickey Factz

A few months back Mr. Factz was featured on the cover of XXL mag along with a few others as one of the top 10 MC's on the come-up. The kid is not half bad.

Shout Out to PEGS!!!!!!!

Photobucket

Aiight, for those that don't know ya boy MA$ is a fitted hat junkie (among other things). One of my favorite spots to bag fitteds from is Pegasus. Located in East Harlem, Pegs has got a vast catalog of dope fitteds in multitude of colorways. From NBA, MLB, NHL and NFL teams to collegiate teams such as Duke and USC Pegs has got what you need. The shop even has their own signature fitted featuring a dope logo of...Pegusas Duh!!!

Photobucket

Although the spot got a little blown up by the fanatics on Niketalk they're still rather on the low since they don't have an online retailing outlet. Do some research and try to find Pegasus so you can step your fitted game up. The flix reveal a sample of some of the gems that can be found instore.
